Rossall School - Lancashire

Broadway, Fleetwood, Lancashire, FY7 8JW, United Kingdom

Rossall School is one of the country's leading independent co-educational boarding and day schools in a picturesque and historic setting on the Lancashire coastline. Amidst striking architecture, on a generous 160-acre campus, boys and girls aged two to eighteen are nurtured in a safe, secure and supportive environment.

Community
Pupils enjoy learning and living in a friendly, busy and challenging community both within the classroom, after school and at weekends. The sense of community that defines the School is achieved largely through the unrivalled standard of pastoral care, by the diverse pupil base and also by the permanent boarding population.

Grounded by the traditional British education, all pupils have the opportunity to develop friendships with others from around the world. Growing and learning in such a friendly and culturally diverse environment helps the young people develop into the well-rounded, confident and knowledgeable individuals that are typical of Rossall School.

Curriculum at Sixth Form
Pupils can choose to study the world-renowned International Baccalaureate Diploma, A Levels or the BTEC National Diploma in Design at Sixth Form. Rossall has been teaching the I.B. Diploma for over ten years and the pass rate now exceeds world average. The I.B. Diploma is growing in popularity with local students as well as international students.

Curriculum at Nursery, Infants and Junior School (ages 3-11)
The Junior School is one of only ten schools in the UK authorized to teach the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. The programme starts in our Nursery school at age three and continues through to the end of Junior School.

Facilities
Rossall has recently refurbished two boarding houses and is continuing to improve the campus. Facilities include: two state-of-the-art information technology suites, Astronomy and Space Science Centre with a planetarium and Victorian observatory, 150 acres of sports fields, an all-weather surface playing field, a gymnasium, a 25 metre heated indoor swimming pool, squash courts, a climbing wall, a shooting range, fives courts and even a beach (where you can participate in the annual games of 'Ross Hockey', a unique type of hockey to Rossall).

In addition there are performance rooms for music, drama and dance, including a 450- seater venue. Rossall also has an impressive gothic style church which is home to the nationally known school choir.

Boarding from age 7
For younger pupils (aged 7 – 13) there is a dedicated Junior boarding house which has a home-from-home family atmosphere and a live-in Matron. Junior boarding activities involve weekend trips to the local town accompanied by a house tutor as well as fun off-site excursions such as carting, swimming, cinema, shopping, boating, theme parks etc.
