What is Leipzig International School's vision?

Leipzig International School is an inclusive learning community that empowers and inspires today's learners to make meaningful impacts in tomorrow's world.

What is Leipzig International School like?

As a learning community, they take a holistic approach to education. Visitors are welcomed to explore their website to gain a deeper understanding of the educational experience and community LIS has to offer. They empower all learners on their personal journeys of growth and challenge them to make a positive impact on themselves, their community, and the world.

There are about 1,000 students on the two sites, who come from 77 different nations, although the German student population is the majority with 46.5%. The secondary school, Grades 6-12, houses 407 of these students, with three classes in every year group. The school employs more than 200 staff members, the majority coming from English-speaking countries.

How does Leipzig International School structure its academic programme?

Their core values - Courageous, Inclusive, and Proud - define who they are as a learning community. At Leipzig International School, they offer a dynamic, multicultural, and multilingual international learning environment from Nursery to Grade 12. They lay the foundation for all future successes of their learners and build a strong foundation for academic and personal growth in an inspirational setting. Through their wide variety of learning experiences and their strong language programme, they equip their learners to become expressive communicators, thinkers, inventors, and leaders. The LIS curriculum involves various international programmes: in the Secondary School, students prepare for the Cambridge IGCSE examination at the age of 16. Then students may enrol in the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) to achieve the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

In the past few years, graduates of LIS have gone to universities and colleges in Germany (e.g., University of Aachen, University of Leipzig, Technical University of Berlin, University of Hanover), in the USA (e.g., Loyola University, Kent State, Scripps College), the UK (e.g., Glasgow, Bristol, KCL, Plymouth, Leeds, Aberdeen, University of the Arts), the Netherlands (e.g., Maastricht, Leiden, Delft, Rotterdam Business School), and Switzerland (ETH). Many of their students enjoy gap years before embarking on higher education.
